Research Services
The Research and Legal Team in RES provide staff with a range of assistance in developing and managing research as well supporting the University’s research policies and strategies.
We will assist with collaborative proposals for research and consulting projects by providing:
- support in identifying potential partners;
- advice on preparing an application ;
- costing support on individual proposals;
- advice on the Intellectual Property in relation to research proposals;
- preparation of legal documents.
You should note that to protect staff from individual liability in relation to proposals, grants and contracts the University’s Financial Regulations state that ALL applications need to be endorsed on behalf of the University. RES has been authorised to sign-off proposals on behalf of Heriot-Watt before they are submitted. Authorised signatories are listed in this document.
